VITAMIN B-12 & LIPO-B INJECTIONS

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin B-12 (cyanocobalamin) injections have become frequently used in weight loss settings. B-12 is an important micronutrient that plays many roles in the body as it is essential for normal blood formation and neurologic function.

In adults, the recommended dietary allowance is 2.4µg. Medications such as proton pump inhibitors and metformin may decrease the absorption of dietary B12. The elderly and patients who have had gastric bypass surgery or intestinal resection are at risk for pernicious anemia, anemia caused by B12 deficiency.

Symptoms include neurologic manifestations, cognitive changes, visual disturbances, insomnia, and impotency. Deficiency can be identified on complete blood count, a blood test that is performed right in the office. These patients should receive B12 replacement injections at least once monthly.

In individuals who do not have a clinical B12 deficiency, B12 injections can provide increased energy and improved mood. Patients frequently report they feel better overall and had a positive effect. B12 injections are very affordable and can be administered once weekly.

Lipo-B

Lipotropic compounds, like those found in our Lipo-B injection, increase the rate that fat is broken down during metabolism in the body. These nutrients are important to maintain a healthy liver by removing fats and bile from the liver that can cause cirrhosis and liver cancer.

The Lipo-B is a combination of Vitamin B-12 (cyanocobalamin), choline, methionine, and inositol. The injections can be administered every two weeks and can be used with weight loss medications and B12 injections. Choline is required for creating and releasing acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, and is a precursor to making cell membrane components and platelet activating factor, and lipid and cholesterol, and homocysteine metabolism, which play a role in cardiovascular health.

Methionine is an essential amino acid that plays many diverse roles in the body. With modern advancement the use of methionine is now being evaluated in colon cancer and many psychiatric conditions including depression and anxiety. Inositol is an important part of a messenger system used by several noradrenergic, serotonergic, and cholinergic receptors. It is known to improve the action of insulin, decrease androgen levels, and improve ovulatory function in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome.
